AUTOMATIC FINGER JOINT
-MODEL HPX-V 12-20-30-40 TONS-
Automatic Finger Joint mod. The automatic Finger Joint mod. HPX-V is a machine designed by CM Macchine for the construction of laminated beams, with the possibility of working the wood in a vertical position.
Glulam beams are obtained by milling, gluing and joining several pieces in the same point, to reach a predefined beam length. For their production, CM Macchine has developed an automatic cycle controlled by PLC.
Widely customizable according to customer needs, also all the feeding and unloading PLANT, the Finger Joint Mod. HPX-V is a fast and reliable machine, characterized by thrust capacities starting from 12 up to 40 tons.

MODEL COMPOSITION
The HPX-V model Automatic Finger Joint consists of:
MACHINE STRUCTURE
The structure is in electro-welded mechanical carpentry with high resistance and stability. This guarantees the Finger Joint model HPX-V the ability to support the pressure of 18 tons in the jointing phase.
PIECES FEEDING ROLLERS
Motorized rollers for inserting and positioning the workpiece in the machine.
PIECE-BLOCKING CLAMPS
Two hydraulic clamps, one fixed to block the piece positioned at the entrance and one mobile with an 18-ton thrust to complete the joining operation.
MILLING, GLUING AND JOINTING UNIT
Integrated unit in the structure of the machine, composed as follows:
- ELECTRONIC PROGRAMMER
Programmer for managing length measurements and the number of pieces to be produced - GLUE SPREADER NOZZLES
Comb nozzles for one-component glue synchronized with the milling units for applying the glue to the parts to be joined
- SAW GROUP
Automatic pneumatic saws for cutting the lamella according to the pre-established length - MILLING GROUPS
Fixed speed milling groups
- GLUE SPREADER NOZZLES
Comb nozzles for one-component glue synchronized with the milling units for applying the glue to the parts to be joined
THE PHASES IN DETAIL
WORKING PROCESS
The manufacturing process of the HPX-V Vertical Automatic Finger Joint consists of seven stages:
1. Two subsequent work pieces are automatically positioned and clamped in horizontal position by two hydraulic clamps
2. The groups holder chariot with 2 cutters and 2 gluing units moves vertically to mill simultaneously the rear side of the first piece and the front side of the second
3. Comb nozzles apply glue to the back side of the first piece and the front side of the second.
4. The rear milled piece, blocked on a mobile carriage, advances thanks to two hydraulic cylinders until it joins the piece that precedes it.
5. The two hydraulic cylinders complete the thrust and join the two pieces with a pressure of 18 tons.
6. The jointed piece advances automatically via the extraction rollers, while the milling carriage returns to its starting position.
7. Two new pieces to be joined position themselves automatically and the cycle starts again.
